November 13th

"All to You I surrender everything, every part of me
All to You I surrender all of my dreams, and all of me..."
We sang some powerful words this morning. Words are usually the easy part it's taking the next step and putting them into action that we lose motivation.  In Mark 8:34-37 it says:
" 34 Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. 35 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. 36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? 37 Is anything worth more than your soul?"
How do we do that? It's easy to sing these words when the music is playing and emotions are going, but how do we make this a part of our lives? I think that it is a day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute thing. It's not about being prefect, because we won't be, but its about living moment by moment taking yourself off the throne of your life and giving it to Christ. Allowing his interests to be your guide, not your own plans. I challenge you give this a shot for the week. I think verse 36 & 37 say it perfectly,  "And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?  Is anything worth more than your soul?" If you don't know how to do this try waking up each morning and saying just that to God. "I don't know what surrender looks like for me today God but I ask that you will show me. Help me to take up my cross and follow after you"!

Oct.23rd

If your following with us and wondering what songs we did last week here they are:
1) No One Like You - by David Crowder
2) God is Able- by Hillsong
3) (NEW) All I Want Is You- by Planetshakers
- This new song is actually one of my (Shay) favorite songs on the planet... no pun intended.... This was a song that I have been singing since back when I was leading worship for Chip when he worked in the First Baptist Church Middle School Ministry. I loved this song then, but it wasn't until a little over a year ago when I gave my life completely over to the Lord, after I had walked away for so long, that I really connected with the words. It wasn't until I really learned how to start surrendering everything that I finally understood the lyrics. (Side-note: I didn't write the lyrics here so you would have to listen to the song and see what I'm talking about). I think there are songs that say exactly how we feel at times and say them better than we could have thought to say them.  This song for me is one of those songs!
4) You Are Greater- by Benj Litter

Any questions for the band feel free to ask! If there's a song that connects with you share it with us, we would love to hear about it, who knows maybe even play it on a Sunday!

Oct. 16th Stories

This last week was sweet if you weren't there we had a few different people tell their stories of how God has transformed their lives! I was one of them (Shay if you were wondering who was writing this) and it was cool to be able to share about what God has done with my life!  Not going to lie I was definitely nervous, but what I had someone say to me when the service was over was  something like this "the devil loses power when we speak about what God has done in us." We read the scripture in Revelation 12:10-11, where it talks about the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony being what defeats the enemy. Hearing that helped me realize that I have a responsibility to share with people the hope that I now have in Christ, I have friends and family that need to hear my story!

If you were wondering about the music we played on Sunday here are the titles and who sang them!
1)Salvation is Here- by Hillsong United
2)Alive In Us- by Hillsong
3)Like A Lion- David Crowder (Version we did)
4)Shout Unto God- Hillsong United

Soon to come on this Blog we will have Band Bios and some other neat stuff so stay posted!!

God is Able

We go through seasons in life where it seems like we won't ever make it through.  Through those times it is key that we look back and see God's faithfulness in our lives as well as how He has proven Himself faithful throughout history.

Read 1 Samuel 17.  You will see how God proved himself faithful to Israel and to David during a tough situation.

In your own tough times,  remember what God has done and that he is able to overcome anything that comes our way.

Selah - Stop and Think

Selah...

This is a word that we tend to overlook a lot of times when reading through the Scriptures.  The exact meaning of the word is unclear but it has been translated as "pause," or "stop and think."  Both of these meanings are things that we need to practice more as we read God's Word and worship Him throughout our week.

Next time when you are reading your Bible and you come across this word, take a moment to stop and think about what you just read.  You will notice your view of God growing larger and larger, and your understanding of Him growing deeper as you begin to meditate on Him, His Word, and the things that He is doing in your life.
