What is join on Discover Church?!

I hope that this post finds everyone doing well and expectant about the future. My prayer is that each and everyone of us would be expectant about what the Lord has in store for our church and more importantly, what God has in store for each of us in our walks with Him. I have to believe that if we are truly meeting with God and being changed and renewed by Him, that our church will be renewed as well and continue to be set aflame for what lies in front of us.

As we continue as a church in this journey of worship, I am mindful that Camp Collide lies ahead in our not so distant future. What an awesome time we will have together in seeking the Lord together, growing together, worshipping together, and playing around during free times together. I believe each of these aspects of Camp Collide are times of worship. Our "Worship" can look different at different places and at different times. The consistent aspect of each of us that makes worship constant, is our relationship with God. If this is right, then we have an overflow of worship that extends into everything we do.

As we look forward to worshipping, I wanted all of us to be able to listen and know some of the expressions (a.k.a. songs) of worship that we will encounter during our Praise and Worship times at Camp Collide 2012. Here is a preliminary (not set in stone) list of the Newer Songs for you to listen to in order to get ready to pour out in Praise and Worship as a Church! You can put these titles into Youtube and listen for free or you can download them from the iTunes store so you can keep them with you!

  1. One Thing Remains - by Jesus Culture
  2. Reign in Us - by Starfield
  3. Revelation Song - by Gateway Church and Kari Jobe
  4. Freedom Reigns - by Jason Upton or another version by Jesus Culture

I am Looking forward to what God does in our midst as we come together with one voice to worship Him!

Blessings to you all!

November 13th

"All to You I surrender everything, every part of me
All to You I surrender all of my dreams, and all of me..."
We sang some powerful words this morning. Words are usually the easy part it's taking the next step and putting them into action that we lose motivation.  In Mark 8:34-37 it says:
" 34 Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. 35 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. 36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? 37 Is anything worth more than your soul?"
How do we do that? It's easy to sing these words when the music is playing and emotions are going, but how do we make this a part of our lives? I think that it is a day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute thing. It's not about being prefect, because we won't be, but its about living moment by moment taking yourself off the throne of your life and giving it to Christ. Allowing his interests to be your guide, not your own plans. I challenge you give this a shot for the week. I think verse 36 & 37 say it perfectly,  "And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?  Is anything worth more than your soul?" If you don't know how to do this try waking up each morning and saying just that to God. "I don't know what surrender looks like for me today God but I ask that you will show me. Help me to take up my cross and follow after you"!

Oct.23rd

If your following with us and wondering what songs we did last week here they are:
1) No One Like You - by David Crowder
2) God is Able- by Hillsong
3) (NEW) All I Want Is You- by Planetshakers
- This new song is actually one of my (Shay) favorite songs on the planet... no pun intended.... This was a song that I have been singing since back when I was leading worship for Chip when he worked in the First Baptist Church Middle School Ministry. I loved this song then, but it wasn't until a little over a year ago when I gave my life completely over to the Lord, after I had walked away for so long, that I really connected with the words. It wasn't until I really learned how to start surrendering everything that I finally understood the lyrics. (Side-note: I didn't write the lyrics here so you would have to listen to the song and see what I'm talking about). I think there are songs that say exactly how we feel at times and say them better than we could have thought to say them.  This song for me is one of those songs!
4) You Are Greater- by Benj Litter

Any questions for the band feel free to ask! If there's a song that connects with you share it with us, we would love to hear about it, who knows maybe even play it on a Sunday!
